Product Manager, Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications-Tactical, U.S. Army
LTC Brandon Baer was commissioned as an Armor officer in May 1999. His first assignment was with A Troop, 3-17th Cavalry at Fort Drum, NY, as a Scout Platoon Leader. He transitioned to the Signal Corps in 2001 and returned to Fort Drum to serve in the 10th Signal Battalion as both Executive Officer for B Company and the Battalion S-4.
Following his Signal Captain’s Career Course, LTC Baer took command of the Group Support Company Signal Detachment, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from November 2003 to July 2005. He received a second command with the 3rd Recruiting Brigade as the Madison Recruiting Company Commander in Madison, WI, from August 2005 to November 2007.
LTC Baer transitioned to the Acquisition career field and was assigned to the Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications – Tactical in January 2008 as the Assistant Product Manager for the Defense Readiness Reporting System – Army. In July 2010, he moved to Fort Gordon, GA, to serve as the assistant TRADOC Capability Manager for Tactical Radios. From October 2012 to October 2014, LTC Baer worked at the Defense Information System Agency as the Program Manager for technical refresh of the Defense Information System Network. He came to HQDA ASA(ALT) in November 2014, serving as the portfolio manager for both Technology Wargaming and Manufacturing Technology for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology. From October 2015 to July 2017, LTC Baer served as the ASA(ALT) Department of the Army Systems Coordinator (DASC) for Tactical Radios. From July 2017-January 2018, he served as a DASC in the Special Programs Directorate within ASA(ALT).
LTC Baer has completed two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Master of Science in Management (with a specialization in Army Operations and National Security) from the University of Maryland, University College. His awards and decorations include the TRADOC Capability Manager of the Year (2012), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Commendation Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Parachutist Badge and the Pathfinder Badge.
