Col. Garth Winterle

Program Manager for Tactical Radios, Program Executive Office for Command, Control and 
Communications-Tactical, U.S. Army

    Colonel Garth Winterle joined PEO C3T in 2016, where he leads his workforce in developing tactical radio systems to enable communications. Prior to coming to PEO C3T, COL Winterle served as the Product Manager for Combat Engineer and Material Handling Equipment (CE/MHE) and the Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) from 2013-2016, as part of the Program Executive Office for Combat Support and Combat Service Support located at the Detroit Arsenal, MI.

    COL Winterle graduated from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1995, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was a platoon leader and company executive officer with the 70th Combat Engineer Battalion (Mechanized), 1st Armored Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas from 1995-1999. From 1999-2004, COL Winterle served on the battalion staff and as the Charlie Company commander with the 16th Combat Engineer Battalion (Mechanized) and as the Headquarters Company commander for the 1st Armored Engineer Brigade.

    In 2004, he transitioned to Hohenfels, Germany, where he was an Observer/Controller at the Joint Multi-National Training Center (JMRC) until 2007.COL Winterle began his Acquisition Corps career from 2007-2010 at Fort Huachuca, AZ, as a joint test and evaluation officer for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

    From 2010 – 2013, he managed engineer route reconnaissance and survey equipment, and networking, radio, video sharing, and other information technology at Fort Belvoir, VA.

    COL Winterle’s deployments include Kosovo (2000), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003), and Operation Enduring Freedom (2011). Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters. He is a graduate of the Airborne and Sapper Leader Courses.
